I met Ayla Nereo at Burning Man 2013, and fell in love immediately. She had an aura with immense gravity and I couldn’t help but ask if I could take her picture (the avatar of this song).
When this contest came up, I thought it was exciting because I am just getting into music production, and this is in fact my first release. I was hoping to take Ayla’s sound into a new area and fuse it with a more electronic feel!
I’ve tried three times in my life to be a full time artist, and all three times I have failed. I’ve had to run back to a job or to someone for help with my tail between my legs. It’s embarrassing, it’s heart breaking, it’s sad, and it sucks, but that is the way things go. You can sit around and cry about it, you can sit around and blame others, or talk about how this person did you wrong or this place didn’t get you, but that’s all bullshit. The reality is that you are in control of your life, and you are the sole determining factor in how things effect you.
Will you be happy?
Will you be successful?
These are terms that are undefinable, with no answer, and no path that will always be correct,so I’m not here to tell you to be happy. or that everything is peachy and that you are stupid for being sad or whatever the fuck negative emotion you have.
What I am here to tell you is that it is your choice to feel this way, and that it can be your choice to feel differently.
Understand that if something is making you unhappy, that you have the capability to make change.
You are not an idiot
You are not a bad person
You will gain nothing from seeking pity for yourself
Get the fuck up and do something that excites you!
I just got back from EDC and my brain is completely fried. Too much adventure, too much fun, too much life, but I love it and I’m hoping to tell you all about it in a different post here soon. But I’d like to share something now that I received right when I got back, and which I thought was pretty cool. My photos Trust & Trustworthy have been remade and redrawn into their own pieces of work, almost like how songs are remixed the way I look at it! And I am just glad that my work captures the attention of other artist in a way that makes them do this sort of thing for me, it feels good, which this day in age an artist can use as much as they can get honestly!
I think if photographers got into a remix mindset and culture like electronic music is these days, that it would produce some really interesting and new photos for us all to enjoy!
So here are the images and their transformations, as well as some other shots from that shoot, and a brand new one at the end for you all! Enjoy! I love you all and you can go fuck yourselves and suck my dick and all that weird stuff you like me to say!
